Don't understand chinese? No worry, this app allows you to enter English text and speaks at your place. It also allows you to take pictures with chinese caracters, record chinese voice and then translate them to you. Magic right? 

 

 

DianPing

The Chinese combined version of "The Fork", "Groupon" & "Tripadvisor". You can find nearly everything around you, with reviews (some are in english) and real time promotions. 

Wifi Compagnon

This application craks the nearby wifi passwords for you. It shows you a list of nearby wifi hotspots similar to your phone’s default wifi settings screen. Just choose the one with the strongest coverage and tell it to connect, by clicking on the lower left side of the screen, which means “1 click to unlock the connection”.

Uber&Tripadvisor

When it comes to visiting and moving around in Shanghai city, the local map and taxi hailing apps are only available in Chinese. Uber (owned by baidu) and tripadvisor (especillay, offiline city guide) remain the most convient apps.

Changba

If you haven't tried karaoke in China (which Ihighly recommend), changba app will give you a sense of what if feels like. The app itself have most of the English songs out there that are popular. Most people use Changba because of it’s unique social and ranking feature where it gives you a score based on how well you sing.
